Karen Quesada knew she wanted to be a Sutter Delta nurse after having her children here - all three of them! Karen joined the hospital 11 years ago, and has been working with the very same doctor who helped her deliver her babies - Dr. Wada whose two sons were born here as well.

Sutter Delta's State-of-the-Art Family Birth Center is the only one of its kind in East Contra Costa County.

Infant Security System

Sutter Delta Medical Center offers the only monitored and alarmed infant security system in Contra Costa County. This highly innovative security system for Sutter Delta babies is comprehensive.

A band with a transmitter is placed on the baby shortly after birth. If the band is removed, tampered with or cut off, an alarm will sound. Through this extensive monitoring system, the OB staff knows the exact location and specific baby whose band has been tampered with or removed.

When the alarm sounds, the staff responds to the known location immediately.

Any attempt to remove or tamper with the baby's band will set off alarms and activate a message over the public address system at Sutter Delta. Upon the announcement, staff throughout the hospital respond to assigned locations to further secure our hospital.

Sutter Delta Medical Center has never had an infant abduction. Since 1983, 230 infants have been taken from hospitals across the nation. In 1999 there were 5 infant abductions in California alone.

Our patients' safety and security are our foremost concern. We understand that bringing a child into the world is an exciting and sometimes frightening experience.
